About Thraves Photography

Multi award winning photographer, Ian Thraves is a qualified member of the British Institute of Professional Photography and has worked in the fields of people, location and still life photography since 1987.

Ian started his career in Photography at the age of 18 after successfully completing ‘A’ level in Photography, followed by a HND. After spending a further 2 years assisting commercial photographers in London, Ian worked for 7 years as Photographer and Picture Editor for an internationally renowned photo agency based in London. Since relocating to Cheshire in 1998, Ian has established a successful working relationship with many impressive clients, regularly shooting for commercial, industrial and editorial applications. His pictures are commissioned for all kinds of purposes, including corporate brochures, advertising and design, public relations, television, newspapers, books and magazines, plus many prestigious websites.

Ian has taught and lectured in photography in the UK & overseas, and has published articles on various photographic subjects, including the business of photography, digital imaging, stock photography and photographic technique. RATES FOR COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY (Non-advertising)

  • First hour – £100
  • Hourly rate – £50
  • Per half day (up to 4 hours) – £250
  • Per Day (up to 10 hours) - £500
  • Assistant (if required) – £100 – £150 per day

(An image ‘usage fee’ may be charged on top where images are required for advertising and promotional purposes)

These fees include post-processing of images and delivery. Bulk deals can be negotiated for shoots lasting longer than three consective days. Fees may be reduced for Charity, Events, small business and Education applications, etc.

EXPENSES

  • Travel – 45p per mile over a 20 mile radius of Manchester.
  • Models/studio hire/make-up/assistant/props, etc – charged at cost and may be required in advance, depending on scale of shoot.
  • Specialist equipment/camera hire will be charged in addition to the above if required for a particular shoot.
  • Elaborate retouching/’airbrushing’, etc will be charged by the hour, if required by the client.

FORMATS & DELIVERY

 

I shoot with the best professional-quality nikon camera equipment and lenses and use Apple Macintosh computers for post-processing. If larger formats are required, this can be arranged. Images can be delivered on-line via a secure server or on DVD.

GENERAL TERMS

  • Copyright of all images remains the property of Ian Thraves Photography unless otherwise arranged. Any images published, printed or used electronically without consent will be regarded  ’in breach of copyright’ until the original invoice has been settled in full. Images may not be sold on to third parties such as ‘stock agencies’, etc unless agreed in writing.
  • Fees for advertising and similar promotional image use may be considerably higher than the daily rate quoted above, depending on the scale of the campaign and where and how the images will be used.
  • A purchase order and/or description of image requirements, along with the agreed fee is required in writing by letter or email prior to commencing a photo shoot.
  • Payment terms – 30 days from date of invoice.
